MOGA 2006: The Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure

By Mike Griffin aka Brawny Bear

March 25th and 26th are the dates for the 3rd Annual Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure. This year, the event will he held at Pere Marquette State Park, Grafton Illinois.

Each year, we raise the bar higher on this event, and each year, we have a bigger showing of people interested. There are many different levels of competition. There will be three individual competitions that are divided into age groups. We also have the team events that are designed for two-person and four-person teams. You don't have to compete to come out and seek the caches. We have over 60 caches in the park so there will be plenty to keep you busy.

This year, the first 175 registered participants will get a special edition MOGA MMVI geocoin, trackable on geocaching.com. In addition to the coin, everyone gets a collector's pin and lanyard, complete with detachable GPSr loop. We currently have over 120 registered from 12 states.

Pere Marquette is a beautiful park in Illinois and worth seeing. There are some interesting features and the history is unbelievable. So come out and join us for a weekend full of caching fun. This event is sponsored by the St. Louis Area Geocachers Association and Illinois State Parks. For more information, please visit http://moga.geostl.com.

Hope to see you there!
