Nestled against Lake Chatuge, Jackrabbit Mountain boasts hiking, fishing, camping, boating, swimming, picnicking and even skiing in the winter! Most campsites offer beautiful sunsets like this one overlooking the lake which separates North Carolina from Georgia. Jackrabbit Hiking Trail can take you on a long or short hike up and around the mountain, and sports a geocache up the loop. There are almost two dozen caches within 10 miles of this beautiful retreat, both in North Carolina and in Georgia. The camping is just rustic enough for tent campers (although not primative) and easy enough to navigate for the RVers -- and plenty of space to separate the two! I stopped here on the last leg of a tent-camping tour of the southern states, and I know I'll be back. I didn't have time to get to all the caches!
