Sound familiar? This is a day away from the house for this mother (me)!
As my second Mother's Day is approaching I think to myself, "What should I do with it?" Go shopping? I would just get annoyed being in crowded stores. Day spa? I would just be bummed that I couldn't do it everyday. Have my husband take my son away for a day so I can be home with peace and quiet? I would just end up cleaning and doing things that I otherwise couldn't get done. The solution? Geocaching. For my family that is a perfect way to spend a day. For me, this is a great way to spend a Mother's Day. Yes, this would require me to be with my son (as I am everyday) but he gave me the status of "Mother" and I feel that this day belongs to him as much as me. He loves to be outdoors and that's a great gift for him too.
So "cheers" to the women that are geocaching mothers. To those mothers that even when they have a chance to have a "day off" from their children still choose to have a family outing with them. To those mothers that handle the whining, the emergency care of bee stings, ticks and scraps, the hiking (dragging of) children up hills and the immense amount of encouragement while hunting a cache. The unwavering strength of a mother is an inspiration to all new ones.
