March 2005

Welcome to our one year anniversary edition.

Over the past year we have covered countless topics by dozens of cachers that have submitted articles. This has been a real learning experience for us. We are not professional writers or publishers; we are cachers just like you. We are overwhelmed and very thankful for the response and the support that we have received over the past year. Thank you! In June of this year we will embark upon a new journey to bring you a hard copy of the magazine. At this very important junction in the history of Today’s Cacher it’s very important to us that we have all of your support.

No one here wants to deceive anyone. This magazine from inception was meant to be for profit. So far there hasn’t been any ... but we all dream. Starting in June we will begin to offer a quarterly hard copy magazine, and hopefully one day it will become a monthly magazine. That will depend a lot upon your support and interest. We are currently offering a Charter Membership to the Web site that will bring you a little extra. Right now we don’t have a lot to offer, but that will change soon. There will always be a quality online magazine for free and you can receive free email updates if you wish.

With all that said, I want to say thanks and express my admiration to my staff. Over the last year they have gone way above the call of duty to help keep this magazine going. It’s been a lot to ask of people that aren’t paid for the enormous amount of time that they devote out of their lives to make this all happen. They are a very dedicated team that put in countless hours every week. Some team members are no longer active due to personal reasons, but have been great contributors to our success. Those members are Carleen Pruess, Tee King, and Christina Raving. They may no longer active at this time, but are still considered team members for life. The rest of the team you can read about in About Us.

In closing let me say that this is a magazine for cachers, by cachers. It’s up to you to make this magazine what you want.

Thank you very much.

Today's Cacher T-shirt Today’s Cacher is awarding T-shirts to the following writer contributors for last month’s issue: Team 360 for “Filming the Ulmer Interview,” Ed Nelson aka The badge & the butterfly for “Geocaching and Lupus,” Teresa M. Cummings aka 2qwerqE for “Of Paul Bunyan ...” and Frank Pardus aka Frank@floridajeepers.net for “Geocaching+Jeeping= Jeeocaching!”

Also, each month we randomly award a shirt for signing up on our free mailing list. jXXiXXXaX@aol.com (you know who you are) wins that one, and InspGadget wins a shirt for providing our cover photo.

This month we visit Hawaii's excellent caching climate (our cover), we learn about the proper care of travel bugs, and discover some of the evil caches awaiting Geowoodstock III visitors.

When push comes to shove, how do you treat serious wounds in the field? What do the stars tell you about the coming month?

Now let's have a little fun. If you search this month's magazine you may find a "cache," a way to win a free charter membership ($20 value) for Today's Cacher. The "cache" is well-hidden in the indexed pages of this issue. The "cache" is not located in the store -- no purchase is necessary. Everything you need to win is located in Today's Cacher.

The FTF will receive a free charter membership. The next 15 finders will receive a complimentary copy of our first magazine to be published in June.
