aka El Diablo
This was an event that has long been anticipated by many, me included. With five hours of sleep my wife (The Princess of Darkness) and I left North Carolina at 4:00 Saturday morning and made the eight hour drive to Jacksonville, Fla. We arrived in the middle of lunch, where over five hundred cachers from around the world were enjoying a great BBQ chicken lunch.
My first reaction to seeing so many cachers in one place was one of awe! I spent the first thirty minutes shaking sticky hands and meeting some legends of caching and greeting old friends.
This get together was put on by NEFGA (North Eastern Florida Geocaching Association). They had promised to do it in style, and the cachers that attended were not disappointed. This was a well thought-out and extremely well coordinated event. I know I echo the thoughts of hundreds when I say thank you, NEFGA. It was an absolute blast!
The staff of Today’s Cacher was there gathering some great stories and photos. These included a new cache record set for the most caches found in a 24-hour period, the most Travel Bugs ever at a single event, some of the most unique Travel Bugs you will ever see, including human, animal and even some real yellow Jeeps. Also, some of the most famous cachers in the world attended!
If you would like to hear the full story about the above, plus many more articles about this great event, be sure to get your copy of printed version of the magazine that will be published in June. Also if you are a paid member of the Web site you can read about many of the exploits online.
