Letters To The Editor

From Dave, aka Gambrinus & Crew
Today's Cacher 1st print edition

Hi Jerry,

I got the first printed Today's Cacher today and just wanted to give you a digital pat on the back. It really looks great. Please relay how impressed I am to your crew. Really fine job.

Also, just wanted to say I totally agree with you. I've actually been considering archiving a couple of my older caches that rarely get visited anymore. Most of them were hunted by the active locals some time ago and they do seem to become stale over time.

Your discussion with Brian in the magazine made a lot of sense. I have often thought it would be nice if some of the really old caches in the area weren't there anymore so I would have more ares to choose from for new caches. New cachers really do have very little unused area in Winston-Salem to hide their own.

I think I'm going to consider a limit on the amount of time I leave my caches out there. Even if no others use the areas I free up, I can always come up with something else fresh and new to do in those areas.

Anyway, I really just wanted to let you know how great I think the magazine looks. Nice work!

Dave

I am sorry about Team Black Cat's "lackluster" caches they have been experiencing. Not every cache you find can be like the very first cache.

This effect is not unlike that of a drug addict. You are seeking that rush of the first cache you found. I am sure there is no one out there that doesn't remember their first find. Mine was "Blue Light Special." It was a "lightpost in a parking lot" cache. Using a borrowed GPSr, I searched for an eternity before I found it. It was glorious!!! Like a drug addict, we seek that high of the first time ... but we rarely ever find it again.

After reading the article you wrote, I checked to see the caches you have put out. I wanted to see the quality of the cache you were looking for. To my suprise, you have never listed a cache!

How then can you say a cache is lazy? You should walk a mile in the shoes of a cacher that has put out a cache before you make such a statement. I have only put out three and that was a lot of work for me and I put a lot of thought into each cache. Why don't you put a few caches out? I bet you might feel different afterwards!

I am thankful for every cache that someone put a little time and thought into just for me to find and enjoy. I think you should do the same!

Respectfully, alara.

First Issue of Today's Cacher

We just finished the First Issue. Very well done with just the right amount of pictures. "Women Geocaching Alone" was very interesting as we have been emailing them about the Alaska coins they helped create. Really liked "Newbies" interview. Thanks for all your collective efforts in getting this magaizine put together.
