Scaredy Cache

By Claire Delavigne, aka Planet

It's nearly midnight, there is no moon.
It's behind a cloud, I won't see it soon.
What am I doing deep in the wood?
I knew this trip would not be good.

They talked me into meeting them here.
They said that cache isn't far, it's near.
I said, "you know I'm afraid of the night;
Those things that go bump give me a fright!"

I hear a noise in the dark.
I cringe, "Oh no! where'd I park?"
Somewhere, behind, a twig went SNAP!
I felt so lost, couldn't see my map.

Thoughts of ghosts and goblins scared me so.
It's just a shadow - I know, I KNOW!
Is that mist? Is that a ghost?
It's the not knowing that scares me most.

I keep on walking, I can't stop now.
I must keep going. Some way, some how.
My light is dimming. It won't last longer.
I wish my batteries were a little stronger.

Thoughts of witches flying in the air,
On their brooms, raised my hair!
It made it stand up on my back,
While I continue to bushwhack.

I forge ahead, I will be brave,
For there's a travel bug I must save.
And now I wish with all my might
that I could do it in daylight.

Oh no! Oh Help me! What is that?
I think I just felt a bat!
I can't hear anyone, am I alone?
Oooof, I've tripped on a headstone!

What a place to be on a Halloween.
Yeah, in a graveyard, a typical scene.
What's that ahead? Is that a spector?
No, thank God, it's the cache reflector!

I open the lid, it makes a thunk.
I set it down with a clunk.
The log is signed by you guess who...
Look out behind you!! GROOWWWWL AND BOO!
