Many people think that kids aren't as capable as adults. If you are one of those people then think again! When it comes to finding geocaches, our kiddish instincts (and level of height) give us a perfect advantage. Finding geocaches is something that kids have a gift for. In my opinion the most fun thing is definitely finding the cache before the adult. Happy occasions like this happen often for me.
The perfect example of our kiddish instincts is Little Low on Cache's "A Slight Inclination to the Bridge to Nowhere" (that I found!) It was the best micro that I ever found! As we approached the cache my dad started to give the lecture on how hard it was. This cache has stumped mtn-man, Quest Master, and of course Leprechaun (my dad!) This was his third visit and he brought me along because I am his secret weapon. When we get to the cache site my kiddish instincts told me to start looking at an obvious spot. Daddy Leprechaun walked off in the totally wrong direction. I started the search and I saw it easily four feet from the ground! "Is this it?" I asked. Astonished, my dad asked "Where did you find that?"
Another time that proved kids' talent for geocaching was the Buttermilk Falls cache. It was a day when I was finding some not-so-great geocaches. When I got to this cache, I groaned, because of the thought of another boring cache. But boy was I in for a surprise! This cache site had a rock quarry and a waterfall. It turned out that again my kiddish instincts led me straight to the cache. All it took was some rock climbing, which is what kids do naturally. When I found the cache, I was so "out of reach" that my dad asked me to sign the log book. I even wrote the log on the internet!
Obviously, kids are a lot better then adults when it comes to Geocaching. Especially when a kid beats an adult that has been on nearly 700 cache hunts!
