Christmas Willie

By Eric Dyck (from Kansas City)

Christmas Willie Hi, my name is Christmas Willie, and I'm a travel bug. Well, actually, I'm a Wildcat, as you can see. I come from a mixed family: my parents were Jayhawks, but my older brother went to K-State, and I started my travels in a nearby cache, Tuttle Puddle. My mother's folks were all K-State people, but she was the black sheep, and went to KU. She always says that she had to pay for that sin by sacrificing her first-born son to the evil Purple Empire. I'm having rather a tough time this year (2004), as football is about all we have to look forward to in Manhattan, Kansas (The Little Apple). But there have been some glorious years recently, and I'm sure there are more to come.

My goal is to visit all the Big 12 schools. But I snuck down to Florida this year in hopes of seeing my team in the Orange Bowl, playing for the national championship. Not gonna' happen. We even lost to those cursed Jayhawks this year. Dang it, dang it, dang it. I have made it to Missouri, Kansas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech, and still need to go to Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State.

I'm part of a mascot travel bug scheme dreamed up by my dad. I happened to have this Santa hat on when he spotted me at Kansas Sampler, so I'm stuck with it. But, it's worked out OK: I even got to go to a Christmas party in Texas, last year. You can checkout my buddies JJ Jayhawk and KC Chief if you'd like.

Now, can someone get me back to the Midwest?
