The Second Annual NEFGA Toys for Tots Event was held Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Westside Regional Park in Jacksonville,Florida.
Attendance? Hmmm...I'd guess about 50.
Food? Is that a trick question?
Toys? Oh yeah! The suggestion was a ten-dollar item per participant, and let me tell you what that table looked like; in theory, it looked like Toys for Tots. In reality, it looked like we are one heck of a fun-loving bunch of kids cleverly disguised as big-hearted grownups.
What we truly are is one heck of a fun-loving bunch of Geocachers who haven't (thankfully) totally outgrown our childhoods and will do anything for a chance to run around in a park on a bright, clear, sunny, winter afternoon. Oh yeah, add cold to the list.
And run around we did. Our dear friend and soon to be married GatoRx and his beautiful sweetie Meadowmuffin (also soon to be married...go figure) set up a Poker Run event that had us scurrying in different directions over the hills and through the woods. I think it was part of the strategy to ward off the cold.
Friends? Whachyatalkinbout? Of course. Old ones and new ones. Old ones and young ones. I'll stop here and take a moment to editorialize on our NEFGA motto of 'it's all about the numbers' and say the subtitle could be 'it's all about the friends'; friends who will share their blanket, their desserts, their hearts. And stomp their feet with you. Did I mention the cold?
Thanks to SueMac, my caching partner extraordinaire, for a day of caching enroute to the event as well as on the way back home.
Thanks to UFBuilder for the event.
Thanks to NEFGA for the setup.
Please join us for the Third Annual NEFGA Caching for The Holidays to be held Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Trout Creek Pak in St Augustine, Florida.
